Entry: Anime Things Apr 14, 2004

Happy Easter everyone! (Ok, so I'm late on my greeting, but what can I say? I'm always late!) Over the break I went to the comic shop and bought 3 manga so I wouldn't go bored out of my mind on the long weekend... I bought FAKE volume 6, GTO volume 1 and Saiyuki volume 1. I'm glad I bought them, they are sooo good! I'll have to go back and buy the 2nd volume of Saiyuki!

I also almost had a heart attack when I found out Kodocha had been licensed. I was shocked over that fact that something so insane with over 100 episodes would ever be touched by an English company. This series has such a fast pasted dialogue with several puns each episode that heavily rely on an understanding of the Japanese language. I'm really interested in how they are going to handle the series. The other reason I almost had a heart attack was because I didn't have all the available episodes of Kodocha on the computer and animesuki no longer had them for download... so after a minute I regained my brain from the shock and went on yahoo and proceeded to use their catch to get them off animesuki when they still existed there, muwahahaha!

I started watching Juuni Kokki (aka: Twelve Kingdoms, Record of 12 Countries or 12 Kokuki... who knows, maybe it goes by other names too?) a few days ago, it's such a great series. I had known about it for a long time now, but since the series had been put on hold/stopped being made I was reluctant to start watching something that had no conclusion. There are 44 episodes out of 68 that have been made, why it's no longer being made I really don't know, it's such a popular series so I really REALLY hope they continue. I've had a server problem lately with getting hocked to an anime series, but Juuni Kokki got me watching episodes 1-26 in two days - and I would of watched more if I had more episodes on the computer. If you haven't seen or heard of it, check animenfo.com for details. I've noticed that I take a real liking to series that have diverged from novels. Actually I only know of two series taken from novels, Juuni Kokki and Crest of the Stars, but both have really captivated me.
